Aussie's Pony Up 8 Million For Problem Gambling

Gambling counselling services in Sydney are set to receive an $8 million boost.

The New South Wales Government has announced the roll-out of funding for 22 organisations over the next two years.

Gaming Minister Grant McBride says the new money will be available from July.

"We're moving to a culture of responsibility in gambling or problem gambling in NSW and what that means is that the solution is a whole of community solution," he said.

"Government gives the lead, but we'll be looking at these counselling services in the local communities working for the people who have a problem to actually deal with this issue in our community."

A move in the right direction. (John)
