Moral Maze Addicted to Gambling

Imagine for a moment being trapped in a maze with no chance of escape; the concrete walls are fifty feet tall, the sky is a dark, smoky grey, and the rain pelts down so hard it scratches your skin. You hear the sound of your own beating heart and the pain from your bitten tongue proves this is not a nightmare. You walk in a direction that you believe will save you, yet the closer you get to exit

I never thought I would be a compulsive gambling addict

I never thought I would be a compulsive gambling addict especially an addict addicted to poker. Am I the only poker gambling addict in the world? No comments please, that is a rhetorical question!

As I successfully resisted my gambling urges for yet another day, I reflected and realised just how close to gambling I came. What stopped me from having a gamble was being mindful of my fleeting

The soul always knows what to do to heal itself...

"The soul always knows what to do to heal itself.
The Challenge is to silence the mind" -- Caroline Myss

Quieting the prevalent chatter and casting aside your thoughts requires a new and different way of thinking. Ironically that difference is to decrease the amount of thoughts that surge through your mind, even momentarily as these brief pauses will help you gain greater and deeper insight

Gambling Advertising to be Banned?

While looking for a seat on a bus, I paused to pick up a lonesome newspaper strewn across a couple of seats. I rarely read 'skew papers' especially free ones, so I have no idea why I felt compelled to give this my attention. As I turned the pages, the ink revealed anger and destruction in the world, and if that was not enough I soon encountered a full page gambling ad promising free money.

Gambling Codependency / Coaddiction Relationships

Codependency (otherwise known as Coaddiction) revolves around the idea that a codependent individual is addicted to a person entangled in an addiction or multiple addictions.

As time has gone on, I have realised just how codependent my partner is. She was raised in a religious family, but her Father was addicted to nicotine and alcohol while her Mother who had no addictions just learned to '

Live Poker Losses: £55 (Tournament)

Overview
I had not gambled for 11 days, but temptation got the better of me and I ended up buying in to a tournament, which I subsequently lost. Note how my musings yesterday meant nothing to my addiction. It is because of this I will always be honest with my struggle to quit poker even if I relapse a thousand times, this account will be my life long dedication of pain and suffering but hopefully

Poker Gambling Nightmares

Some poker players have big poker dreams, but all poker players have bigger nightmares.

Even the most skillful, ahem, 'luckiest' poker players that win big are broke a few games later. Other poker players lose their partners and even 'professional' poker players comfortably sit on top of millions only for their accounts to reflect a negative balance years, months, weeks or even days later. How to avoid Poker Gambling losses

As stated in my poker gambling addiction blog yesterday, prior to my most recent gambling relapse I did manage to spend three months not gambling. However, each day without a bet felt like hell.

During my gambling recovery, I still thought of past hands, bad beats and bad play. Fleeting thoughts typically emerged while I was in the shower; trying to sleep or within dreams. When my mind was not

Poker, Mind the Relapse

I just got back from playing a poker tournament at a land based Casino in London. There were forty people playing poker of all ages and abilities, albeit mainly men and all this on a Monday evening! All the gamblers were clearly hopeful that they would get placed, as the winner was guaranteed £5,000. I played well, however; that was just not good enough. Poker is gambling, and while the poker

I am obsessed with gambling!

Gambling is a process addiction aligned with an act or behaviour, however, like other forms of addictions there are very few signs or physical changes that indicate a gambling problem; gambling controls the mind to the point that it becomes all-encompassing.

When playing poker, I do not have time for myself as I fuel a gambling addiction. When I am not gambling my thoughts do not belong to

How do I stop my husband from gambling?

I am a compulsive gambler. I love my partner dearly, yet if I choose to gamble, there is nothing in this world that could be said or done to stop me from gambling. So when I hear people ask, "How do I stop my boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife etc. from gambling?" the answer is not what they were hoping for because there is nothing they can do to stop their loved one from gambling, only the

Addictive Gambling Urge - Overcoming a poker addiction

Yesterday, I had a massive gambling urge. I really, really, really wanted to play poker. You might already know that I am a gambling addict and addicts get urges - huge ones! The fact that I had a substantial amount of money on me really did not help matters. Despite my feelings, and the loaded wallet I did not give in to the temptation. I refrained from gambling (and losing) more poker

Don't let your gambling past shape your future

Understanding yourself and your emotions is an important aspect of knowing why you are an addict.
Personal growth is an inner journey that is likely to be very painful. Addictions arise as a way to self-medicate and help lessen the pain we feel, so respite is temporary as the primary cause is not addressed.

The long-term consequences of addiction combine our problems, so we experience not only

Blinded by the Big Blind

Gambling should be considered a form of entertainment as part of a balanced lifestyle, yet gambling can kill you faster than drug abuse or alcoholism!
When I started playing poker, it was fun and part of a balanced way of life, however, like any habit, it seeped beneath my skin. Gambling became an integral aspect of my life, turning from a fun pastime to a full-blown gambling addiction.

The End of a Poker Addiction!

It is my desire to end my poker addiction. My long term ambition is to help you end your addiction. The past three years contribute to my Poker Addiction nightmare. How long have you hosted your addiction?

My intention is to help myself recover. Once I have achieved a state of recovery, for at least five years, I can turn my attention to helping others. The aim of this blog is to demonstrate

How do I stop a gambling addiction?

On Saturday July 4th, 2015 I rewrote "How do I stop a gambling addiction?", to reflect the experience and knowledge that I have gained as a gambling addict, over the past three years.
As I write my first entry into my poker gambling addiction diary, I must state that I am not a gambling addiction counsellor. My journey may lead down this path, but first I travel.

It goes without saying, if

Hiring Casino Tables to Make Your Event Happening

So, you're throwing a party, but aren't sure about what to do to make it interesting? Of course, the music and cocktails are there, but consider taking a bigger step to add to its value and make it one that people will remember. One way you can add a bit of spice to your private party, charity event or wedding reception is a casino table hire. Regardless of whether your event is a social or corporate one, a casino table will offer great entertainment to your guests.

If you're looking to raise money for charity, few options will offer as much excitement as a casino table. Hiring a table and other equipment will cost a little bit of money, but the amount you spend will be as good as peanuts when you consider the potential earnings from the table. Since you are organising the event, the money obtained from poker and other gambling games is all yours. Even if you're getting married, a casino table at your reception will be a great form of entertainment for your guests. This way, you can provide people with entertainment for hours and also get some extra dough for the honeymoon.

Choosing a table

You will come upon various options when you go to hire a casino table. It's always good to choose one that offers a lot of games. People must be able to choose from blackjack tables, roulette tables, poker tables, etc. Slot machines also make for a fascinating option. The moment a person drops a quarter into it, only time will tell when he/she finally stops. The tables will cost you depending on the number of items you hire and on the time you will need each setup. Extra fees will be charged if you need employees to handle the equipment or the tables.

Finding a casino

There are so many organisations that allow you to hire casinos, finding one shouldn't be too hard. Casino equipment can be hired irrespective of where you live. Tables that offer set up in Las Vegas style can also be found. They are very fancy and elaborate in design, and will surely make your event a happening one.

The advantage of casino table hire for your party is that apart from raising money, they also attract a lot of people to participate in the games, meaning that your guests will surely have a good time. It will be a huge success for your event, and for everyone else involved.

The Fun Casino Hire Company provide professional fun casino nights and casino table hire to private parties, charity and corporate nights as well as wedding receptions throughout the South East of England. Let us plan your party today!!

Basic Gin Rummy Rules for New Players

Card games are great recreational activities for any sort of gathering, whether formal or informal. There are plenty of card games you can explore, given that there are more than 500 types of variations available these days. Gin rummy is among the popular card games you can play with your friends during a night out or online at home. The rules aren't really that complicated, but the element of fun and excitement has certainly improved. If you are interested in participating in gin rummy online tournaments, here are some basic gin rummy rules and pointers you need to remember.
• The objective of the game is to create as many sets as possible, and collect the lowest point value for the remaining unmatched cards.
• This is usually played with two people, but it can include up to four participants. However, the extras will only serve as partners of the main players and can only join in once a person is taken out of the game.
• Each player is usually given ten cards. The 21st card, or in a 4-player's case, the 41st card, is then revealed and made the first card in the discard pile. The rest will form the stock pile.
• The sets can be composed of three to four cards. They can be consecutive, or of the same rank regardless of the type of card it is. Players must remember that a card can only belong to one combination at a time.
• The value of the Ace card in this game is 1.
• A player's turn in this game consists of two parts. First, he draws from the top of the stock pile and checks if he has any use for it. Then, he throws in a sacrificial card to the discard pile face up, so the other player sees what cards are available. The players can then choose to pick up the discarded one or draw from the stock pile.
• A set should only be revealed during a player's turn.
• The tournament is concluded when one of the players has all but one card in his hand to discard, as the rest are already grouped, or when there are no more stock cards to pick from. The player with the highest value of deadwood (or unmatched cards) is the loser, and will have to facilitate the dealing in the next round.
• A knock on the game table usually informs participants of the match's end.
• Opposing participants are actually allowed to extend each other's sets in an attempt to discard unmatched cards.
As you can see, gin rummy rules are quite easy to comprehend. When it comes to scoring, it's usually a matter of preference. The winner may get 20 points for completing a go gin, or be awarded the difference of the deadwood when the match is forced to end due to technicalities. But, gin rummy online sites often have their own scoring techniques, so you should read the instructions first before joining. If you have to gamble, make sure you don't go overboard with your bets.
